An average of 32 people lost their lives to Covid-19 every day in the city in May while more than 1,000 people tested positive for the infection daily last month. May saw an exponential jump in both Covid deaths and cases from April. Experts fear the numbers could still be understated due to limited testing and challenges in attributing the cause of deaths.
