Village with no Muslims observes Muharram
Of the more than 2,500 residents of Hiremannur in Ron taluk, Gadag, not one of them is a Muslim, but one of this small village’s age-old traditions, one that dates back many centuries, is the observation of Muhurram. The prevalence of the pandemic notwithstanding, villagers cutting across ages, are coming together for the last day of Muharram on Monday.
