Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Belarus activist and 2 groups - 1 from Russia, 1 from Ukraine
This year's Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded jointly to Belarus human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski, the Russian human rights organisation Memorial and the Ukrainian human rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties. “They have for many years promoted the right to criticize power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens” the Oslo-based Norwegian Nobel committee said of the winners.
